About Jog Falls

The Sharavathi drops 253 metres in four distinct streams — Raja, Rani, Rocket and Roarer — making Jog the tallest plunge waterfall in India. Between August and November, when the Linganamakki dam releases water, the sound arrives before the view does. Most trips pair it with the Sharavathi valley: Honnemaradu backwaters for kayaking, Sigandur temple by ferry, and the drive down to the coast at Honnavar. **Getting there.** About 400 km from Bengaluru via Shivamogga and Sagara (8–9 hours), usually an overnight drive with a 3-day itinerary. **Where to stay.** Homestays around Sagara and Honnemaradu; a few resorts near the falls themselves.
