Kumara Parvatha — Pushpagiri on the survey maps — is the trek people train for. Twenty-two kilometres return from Kukke Subramanya, with a relentless climb through Bhattaru Mane and the false summits of Shesha Parvatha before the final push to 1,712 m. It is a permit trek with a forest checkpost, an early start and a long descent that punishes knees. Do it in winter, carry two litres of water, and expect the group to bond somewhere around the fourth false summit. **Getting there.** Overnight drive from Bengaluru to Kukke Subramanya (about 6 hours) via Sakleshpur; groups start walking around 5–6 am. **Where to stay.** Lodges and homestays at Kukke Subramanya town, or the forest rest stop at Bhattaru Mane for overnight variants.
October to February. Forest department permits are needed and the trail is often shut through the monsoon.
