About Lambasingi

Lambasingi is a village at 1,000 m in the Chintapalli hills where the temperature drops close to freezing in December and January — unheard of at this latitude, and the reason it has become a winter pilgrimage from Hyderabad and Vizag. Frost on the fields at dawn is the whole point. Around it are coffee, pepper and eucalyptus plantations, the Kothapalli and Thajangi falls, and a reservoir that fogs over at sunrise. **Getting there.** Overnight bus or train from Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam, then 100 km up the Chintapalli ghat road (3 hours). Usually clubbed with Araku. **Where to stay.** Tented winter camps and village homestays; book weeks ahead for December weekends.

Best time to visit

November to February for the cold; December is peak. Outside winter it is a pleasant but ordinary hill village.
