About Munnar

Munnar is the postcard of Kerala's high ranges: 1,600 m of tea estates laid over the hills in geometric green, mist that arrives without warning, and Anamudi — the highest peak in South India — rising behind Eravikulam National Park. Three days is the right length. Day one is the drive up through the ghats and Cheeyappara falls, day two is Eravikulam, Mattupetty and Top Station, day three is a tea museum and the road home. Add the Nilgiri tahr, which walk right up to visitors in Eravikulam. **Getting there.** About 460 km from Bengaluru (9–10 hours overnight) via Salem and Udumalaipettai; a short 150 km climb from Coimbatore. **Where to stay.** Estate-view hotels and homestays around Munnar town, Chithirapuram and Devikulam.
