About Yelagiri

Yelagiri is a cluster of fourteen villages spread across a small plateau at 1,050 m, reached by 14 hairpin bends off the Bengaluru–Chennai highway. It is the cheapest and closest proper hill station from the city, which makes it the standard first trip for new groups. Swamimalai hill gives a two-hour trek, Punganur lake has pedal boats, and the paragliding and adventure camp at the base handle everything else. **Getting there.** 160 km from Bengaluru on NH-44 via Vaniyambadi — about 3 hours, making it a comfortable Saturday-morning start. **Where to stay.** Budget resorts and camping grounds around Athanavur and the lake.
