Day-wise itinerary
Day 1 — Bengaluru → Ooty via Bandipur⌄
Leave at 5 am and drive through Bandipur and the 36 hairpins at Gudalur, watching for elephants along the reserve road. Reach Ooty by afternoon, check in, and finish the day at the botanical gardens and the lake.

Day 2 — Coonoor, the toy train and Doddabetta⌄
Drive down to Coonoor for Sim's Park and Dolphin's Nose, then board the Nilgiri Mountain Railway back up to Ooty — an hour and a half of rack-and-pinion climbing. Doddabetta peak in the late afternoon.

Day 3 — Tea factory and the drive home⌄
A tea factory and estate walk in the morning with time to buy Nilgiri tea, then the drive back via Bandipur. Mysuru drop at 5 pm, Bengaluru by 9 pm.

The destination and the organisation were both excellent. Only gripe is the overnight drive — bring a neck pillow and don't expect much sleep on the ghat road.

Good balance of activity and downtime. Rooms were basic but clean. The bonfire night was the highlight — everyone actually talked instead of staring at phones.
