Day-wise itinerary

Day 1Midnight climb, dawn descent

Board in the city at 11 pm and reach the base by 1 am. The climb is about 4 km of rocky trail, taking two to three hours by headlamp, with a wait at the summit for first light and the cloud inversion below. Descend after sunrise, breakfast on the highway, and back in Bengaluru by 10 am.

4 · Good value, slightly large group

Twenty-eight people is a lot for a small hill station. Everything ran on time and the stay was comfortable, but I'd pick a smaller departure next time.

5 · Exactly what a solo trip should be

Booked alone and knew nobody on the bus. By the second morning we were splitting breakfast and swapping camera rolls. Captain kept the timings tight without making it feel like a school trip.
